November 12-16

This is the last week of the trimester.  We will be squeezing in our Unit 2 Reading Assessment.  We will also take a quick  Math assessment.

Today's homework packet was THICK!!!!  Here's a few things to keep in mind.
  • Your child knows that only 4 math pages are required.
  • Some of the money concepts covered in the homework were not introduced in class yet, and probably won't be until Wednesday.  That's why your child has a choice.
  • Next week the only homework is to choose a book and the next book report project. That's it.  Really.
  • The week following Thanksgiving the only homework will be spelling, map and the book report.  You can get started on the book report over the holiday if your schedule allows it.
In Science this week we will continue to learn about how rocks are made by minerals.

Reading is focusing on comparing and contrasting.  We will be completing some Venn Diagrams to compare different versions of Cinderella and different African American inventors.

We continue to work on time and money in math.  Please practice at home!

On December 3rd we will take our next field trip to the Museum of Science and Industry.  Information about chaperoning will come soon!

Finally, as we approach Thanksgiving, I want to tell you how grateful I am to work at such a fantastic school with such fabulous students.  Irving is a wonderful community and I am grateful for the sweet students and generous families of Room 204 every day.
