December 10-14

Just a few announcements this week:
  • The reading log looks different this week.  Please make sure your child takes the time to write a summary about what she reads this week.  (The rest of the packet is short and will be next week, too.)
  • Our fairy tales are coming along beautifully!  I can't wait for you to read them.
  • We learned about erosion and weathering last week.  Did any of your children ask to put a bottle of water in the freezer to see how ice expands and cracks rocks?  Did they ask for some chalk to shake around in a bottle of water to see how water softens edges and causes sediment to move around?
  • We are taking Unit 3 test in math this week.  Unit 4 has lots of problem solving strategies for addition and subtraction number stories.
  • We practiced logging in to google docs this week.  We'll be using google docs a lot this trimester.
  • The students got a presentation on Fast Forward.  After winter break students will be doing Fast Forward every day.  We have blocked 45 minutes out of our schedule to do this program.  Please let me know if you have any questions.
  • Finally, check out the announcement below about a new website students have access to.  I checked it out and it's kind of cool!
