And....We're Off!

We are off to a good start of our first full week.  First-a few reminders.

• If you haven't already sent in a water bottle, please do so.  It's hot in the room-90 +degrees at times.  The kids need frequent drinks and having a water bottle cuts down on both excessive movement and wasted time.
• Purple homework folders go back and forth daily.  The first homework packet is in the folder today.  There will be no spelling until next week.  
• If your child has a change of plans for after school, please be sure to send me an email.  Even if you tell me in person, put it in writing, too.  If I don't acknowledge your email assume I have not seen it and call the office.  There are 22 kids in class and I'm sure you can appreciate how difficult it is to manage 22 after school schedules!

As you can imagine we are doing a lot of review this week in both math and reading.  Soon we'll begin our second grade curriculum and we will work together to find your child's best instructional level. 

Today we reviewed telling time using a hula hoop clock.  Be sure to practice telling time at home!

Ask your child:

• to say the Second Grade Promise-in sign language!
• which coins to count first 
• why we call the silent e the "friendship e" instead.
